We had the privilege of attending a community worship service this week in the City of La Vista, Nebraska. The word “community” is derived from Latin and can be interpreted as “with oneness.” And that is what we saw.
People of all different stripes were there from many different church traditions. It was a delight to sing and pray with them, in the name of the One we adore – Jesus Christ, the King.
The speaker was Jason Currie, from Omaha’s Youth for Christ, a national ministry for early teenagers. His message could not have been more appropriate. Without saying so, Jason talked about our common DNA as children of God.
Jason declared that we are in a battle for our kids and he had two major points: no one ever won a battle without knowing exactly who the enemy is and no one ever won a battle by fighting an enemy alone.
He said our enemy is not our neighbor or our spouse or the Internet or someone from another denomination. Our enemy is Satan himself, who prowls to devour. And he said that the only way we can win this battle is together, not divided.
To this I say, “Amen!”
But to this I add, “Imagine what could happen if we did this every day, not just once a year?”
This is what Streamside intends to do.
