A few days ago, I talked about the fourth Greek word for love – agape – which means deep, sacrificial love in contrast to brotherly or romantic love. Agape is a central teaching of Jesus and all Christians are aware of it as our goal.
Oddly, we almost always view agape outwardly – that is, in our mission to spread the love of Jesus to the world. Yet we have been powerless to apply it to each other in our denominational diversity. We need a common language of unity, generating agape to each brother and sister with common spiritual DNA so pure that it will attract the world.
If we do not love each other first, the world sees it and scoffs. Streamside will show a very practical, achievable path toward that end that could change the world. And it comes straight from the Word of God, not the words of Larry!
On this day, let’s recognize and accept that we have a long road ahead, one full of adventure! But for now, let’s revisit an old favorite song and bask in all the ways we can say, “I love you.”
