This song by Natalie Grant never fails to bring tears of joy welling up from my heart. I am an emotional guy, yes, but this is special. As a father and grandfather, I share the passion – when Natalie asks “What kind of King” I immediately ask in my heart, “What kind of Dad?”
If my passion for unity in my family is reflected by what I am willing to do for them, can we even imagine how God feels about his family? So the thought of meeting the risen Christ “Alive” is overpowering.
Isn’t this our unity in person?
“Who but You could breathe and leave a trail of galaxies and dream of me?
What kind of love is writing my story until the end with mercy’s pen?
What kind of king would choose to wear a crown that bleeds and scars to win my heart?
What kind of love tells me tells me I’m the reason He can’t stay inside the grave?
Who could speak and send the demons back from where they came with just one Name?
What other heart would let itself be broken every time until He healed mine?
Only you could turn my darkness into dawn running right into your arms.
Alive! Alive! Look what mercy’s overcome.
Death has lost and Love has won.
Alive! I am His because He is alive.”
This blog is dedicated to my grandson Adam Perry – I love you this much!! Grampa
It is also dedicated to my family at Streamside, most of whom I have not met – YET.
I assure you that tears are rolling down my face and I can barely see the screen.
Tears of joy!
