OK, Larry, how can you have a second annual when you haven’t had a first annual?
Well, mostly to capture your attention!
While Streamside must teach from the failure side of disunity, it is also true that there are many wonderful examples of unity waiting to be discovered.
So I am preemptively awarding the First Annual Christian Unity Award to:
K-Love Radio
What is the award criterion, you ask? For now, the award is for:
Demonstrating the Elements of Our Common DNA
K-Love Radio (www.klove.com) holds dear two of the most important: the truth of the Bible, delivered with grace and truth, just as Jesus did (John 1:14).
As I drove home from the airport the other day, listening to K-Love as my welcome-home moment, one of their hosts said to the world, “You are not the sum of your past failures.” I believe what she meant was, “Who you are is a beloved child of God.”
How powerful! K-Love delivers the truth of the Bible with flowing grace every day to millions of people who are rescued from believing only their mistakes.
I am one of those. And so are you. God’s truth delivered with grace is a key part of our common DNA. That same truth, delivered with fiery judgment is not the way to attract.
Other elements of our DNA emerge from my upcoming book. But for now, let’s stay with something very basic and foundational.
The Second Annual Christian Unity Awards will be held in late October 2014. Nominees do not have to be organizations and they do not have to be celebrities. Quite the contrary!
