The irony is tangible. As Streamside – Finding Peace through Perfect Unity goes to the printing presses as early as this week, our nation, our homeland, stands at the brink of historic disunity and fracture.
It is not so much the events themselves – whether the government does this or that – because America has always faced gut-wrenching decisions. No, it is the tone, the vitriolic language, the public dysentery of hatred our leaders have for each other – both sides, no exceptions.
Streamside is based on an engineer’s problem-solving model to address the lack of unity among the children of God. It is based entirely on biblical principle, so some might wonder what this has to do with America.
Well, from the Declaration of Independence to the Constitution of the United States of America, our country was founded on those same biblical principles, not to force religion on the people, but to acknowledge the wisdom and the gifts of God – our inalienable right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
America was an endowment from God to the world.
The image burned onto my memory is our Congress singing “God Bless America” in perfect unity on the Capitol steps just after September 11, 2001.
How far we have fallen in just twelve years!

All families have squabbles, but when attacked from the outside, they stand united. Families that are broken cannot withstand the assault from a common enemy focused on their weakness.
Let us demand this moment that our leaders stop where they are and think about how they are perceived by the world.
Jesus said, “A house divided against itself cannot stand.”
We have been weakened. Let us stand strong and united!
